The North East Regional Information Partnership (NERIP) is the regional observatory for North East England. Working to a multi-agency board, NERIP aims to provide good quality evidence to support the development of regional strategies. The NERIP Executive Team works with over 60 organisations in the North East, and has a good knowledge of available and developing policy-related research produced by academics, local authorities and others.
NERIP's objectives are:
- to work with others to seek to provide intelligence to underpin policy making
- to encourage and actively participate in the dissemination of good quality information between NERIP's partners in the region
- to rationalise and help ensure consistency in the range of indicators used to baseline and monitor regional strategic and operational work
- to work with regional partners and ARO (Association of Regional Observatories) to influence national information-related issues of regional significance
- to improve the capacity of the region for using evidence in the development of regional strategies
Jon Carling is Head of NERIP and represents the region at ARO Board meetings. John Mooney is the contact in the region for the GIS sub-group, whilst David Mell is representative to the Modelling sub-group.
