West Midlands Regional Observatory

The West Midlands Regional Observatory has been the source of research, facts and figures about the UK's West Midlands region since 2002.

They help public agencies, private businesses and organisations in the voluntary and community sector in the West Midlands with improved access to well-organised information. Better evidence leads to better policy, strategy and funding in the West Midlands so that services and ultimately people's lives are improved.

The Observatory:

• Undertakes considerable research drawing upon both existing and newly commissioned datasets to address some of the intelligence gaps that exist across the West Midlands region.
• Provides an enquiry service on regional data and analysis.
• Co-ordinates a network of data and information users across all sectors in the West Midlands.
• Maintains a searchable Resource Catalogue, which signposts to a wide range of regional and national datasets, policies, research and websites.

Rosie Paskins, Chief Executive of the West Midlands Regional Observatory, chairs ARO Board meetings.

Russell Hornsey is the Observatory's representative to the GIS sub-group.
