The Association is delighted to be able to invite colleagues from observatories around England to come to Birmingham on June 25th, to take part in the first "all network" meeting.
The meeting is being held in “Open” and “Look and Listen” at The Studio, just a few minutes walk from Birmingham’s New Street Station. The day starts with refreshments available from 10am, and will close around 4.15pm.

10.30am: “"Identifying the drivers behind the demand for area-based analysis; making the connections"
Derrick Johnstone, Consultant at Educe Ltd and Local Improvement Advisor for the IDeA, will try to identify the policy drivers which are currently fuelling the demand for area-based analysis, and which are likely to continue to drive that demand.

12.00pm: Area profiling tools
This session will examine some of the tools available to meet the demand for place-based analysis. Starting with Steve Bond from ONS, the session will cover the Output Area Classification, examining some of the ways in which it can be used, and future developments for the classification. Attendees will also have a chance to feed in their views. There will also be a chance to discuss the differing approaches taken by regional observatories.
